  • On-line course in residential real estate finance. Students can now learn traditional residential finance in the comfort and privacy of their home. Upon completion of ARIs on-line offering, the aspiring real estate finance professional will be well-positioned to seize employment, entrepreneurial or investment opportunities. This course covers 96 different subjects in residential lending--starting with a thumbnail view of the history and major developments through closing the loan transaction.
  • Loan Originators Certification. ARI conducts training courses to provide loan originators with the classroom training required for certification by regulatory agencies. ARI is approved by the State of Maryland as an educational provider to offer training which will satisfy the educational requirement to be certified as a loan originator. ARI has applied for approval with other jurisdictions to provide education when required for certification of loan originators.
  • Loan origination (loan officer) training. This 80 hour course consists of skills training for individuals desiring to enter residential lending. The training is divided into two sections--Mortgage Lending I & II. Mortgage Lending I is the introductory course to residential lending. It is designed to give the student an understanding of the various sectors within the mortgage industry. The students will learn the history of real estate finance, the source of mortgage loans, the legal and regulatory concepts in mortgage lending and how the secondary market operates. Some of the topics covered in this class are: Security instruments, lien theory v. title theory; public records, bankruptcy, foreclosure, loan programs (government, conventional and sub-prime) and private mortgage insurance. Upon the completion of this course the student will have an understanding of how the residential finance industry functions within the US economy. This course is a pre-requisite for students who register for Mortgage Lending II. Mortgage Lending II will provide the student with the skills required to originate mortgage loans. Upon completion of the course, the student will understand how to: take a loan application, determine which loan program and product is appropriate for the borrower, price the product and manage conditions required to get the transaction to settlement. The skills developed in this course include: reading and evaluating credit reports, income documents, underwriting and price matrices, how to package a loan, the ability to calculate qualifying ratios and analyze data for loan approval. Upon completion of this course, the student will be prepared to seek employment within the financial services industry.
  • Entrepreneurship and Mortgage Lending. This training module prepares graduates for self-employment as Mortgage Brokers. Our program emphasizes skill development in managing basic administrative and managerial functions, including decision making, planning and implementation, problem solving, and communication. Experiential learning methods, such as case studies, simulations, and role playing, are employed extensively to provide the student-broker with practical skills to successfully operate a brokerage.

The goal is to make real estate affordable and available to many by using a method which benefits both parties equally in the process.
  • Project E - Quality Control Program for Brokers.Project E is a focus on Excellence to help Brokers and other mortgage professionals achieve a level of proficiency within the industry that will benefit consumers and investors.
