Course Outline
Anchor has a three-phase program for aspiring real estate investors, entrepreneurs and mortgage bankers. The educational program in real estate finance, which is the core of the strategy for training real estate professionals, is comprised of:
Phase I - Understanding the fundamentals of residential real estate finance.
- Thumbnail sketch of the history of real estate finance
- The basic legal concepts of mortgage lending
- Regulatory regime of mortgage lending
- Sources of mortgage loans
- Qualifying ratios (mortgage math)
Phase II - Origination functions
- Mortgage products
- History of credit and its use in real estate finance
- Underwriting guidelines for collateral and property appraisals
- Pricing and packaging the loan
- Processing the loan
- Closing the transaction
Phase III - Secondary Market, Compliance and other Consumer Transactions
- Due diligence
- Secondary Market Underwriting
- Sarbanes/Oxley Compliance
- Multi-Family Properties
- UCC's Article 9/Secured Transactions
- Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT's)
The curriculum provides the student with the skills necessary to obtain employment in a variety of labor markets: mortgage banking, not-for-profit housing providers and other credit markets. Additionally, if entrepreneurship is the focus of the student, this course will give the graduate the technical and regulatory guidance to achieve their goal.
